This is an excellent botanical fossil. It is a very fine Fossil Flower preserved in Baltic Amber. Plants, especially flowers, are rare occurrences in amber - they had to fall in or be blown into the resin, whereas insects could crawl or fly into the sap. This fabulous specimen has great detail. The long, individual stamens are quite distinct and prominently displayed. The entire flower is easily seen in the polished piece of fossilized tree resin. There is also at least one fly trapped in the amber nugget. This is a superb example of an extremely scarce flower encased in Baltic Amber (large close-up photo is included for free).
