This is a very complete specimen of the Devonian crinoid, Arthroacantha, from the classic Sylvania, Ohio location. Although this site is famous for its Phacops trilobites, occasionally a crinoid is unearthed. This specimen is very 3-dimensional and is replaced by golden pyrite. The detail of the arms is excellent, and the plate structure of the cup is nicely intact. But the most obvious feature of this crinoid is the long stem that is still attached. Very few Arthroacantha have ever been found with over six inches of stem preserved! Also, there are many other crinoids and brachiopods scattered about the matrix plate. This is a great example of this ornate Devonian crinoid with long stem intact.
