This is a spectacular plant fossil. It is a large Seed Fern from the Pennsylvanian (Upper Carboniferous) of Germany. This frond is quite long (over 5 inches) and complete to the very tip. The specimen has been meticulously prepared by hand so that the fossil plant is in high relief - it almost appears to be floating on top of the matrix. The central stem is easily seen, and the individual leaflets are beautifully displayed. The fossil plant has outstanding color and contrast and is well centered on the plate of dense shale. This is an extremely displayable specimen of a Seed Fern from the Coal Age of Germany.
