This is a beautiful fly in fossil amber. It is a large Dark Winged Fungus Gnat (Sciaridae) from the Dominican Republic. The fly has great detail, and is preserved in a very aesthetic pose. It is easily seen in the cognac-colored amber piece. This is a beautiful fossil insect trapped in Dominican Amber (small close-up photo is included for free).
