From the DeRosear Collection, this is one of the biggest and best Onychocrinus ulrichi we have ever seen. Over the years, Doug prepared thousands of crinoids from Crawfordsville and this is the Onychocrinus that he retained for his collection. The specimen is extremely 3-dimensional, elevated above the matrix almost 1.5 inches. The crinoid has excellent plate structure. All five arms are extended in the "starburst" position. A short section of stem is attached. It is hard to believe the magnitude of this crinoid from looking at a picture. Also on the slab is a specimen of Barycrinus. This specimen also exhibits good detail. The crinoids have great color and contrast. They are well positioned on a rectangular plate of siltstone. This is a very displayable specimen of Onychocrinus ulrichi from the famous crinoid beds at Crawfordsville, Indiana.
