This is a rare fossil fly. It is a Fairy Fly from the Dominican Republic. This type is uncommon in the fossil record. The insect displays the head, long body, and longer wings quite nicely. Both segmented antennae are easily seen. The unusually fine venation of the wings is well preserved. This is a very nice specimen of an unusual fly trapped in ''fossil ooze''.
