This is a breathtaking insect in amber. It is a beautiful Winged Aphid (Homoptera) from the Dominican Republic. This specimen is preserved with the gossamer wings spread wide open, making for an awesome display. The wing detail is amazing - the paper-thin, transparent wing material is even preserved! These are some of the most incredibly well-preserved fossilized insect wings we have ever seen. This is a striking fossil insect with delicate wings showcased in all their glory (close-up photo included for free).
