Here is a very nice fossil insect. This is a cranefly from the Eocene of Utah. The head, body, and wings of the beast are easily seen. Under magnification, the venation of the long, delicate wings is quite impressive. This fossil insect has good color and contrast. It is nicely positioned on the natural plate of shale. This is a fine example of a fossil cranefly from the Green River Shale.
