This is a wonderful fossil insect from the time of the dinosaurs. It is a very unusual wasp from the Jurassic of China. This insect exhibits excellent detail - the head, segmented body, and legs are wonderfully preserved. Even the long ovipositer is beautifully displayed. The insect has outstanding color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also contains many fossil bivalves. This is a great example of a fossil wasp preserved in shale.
