Here is a wonderful fossil fish from an old German collection of Solnhofen fossils. This is Anaethalion angustus from the Jurassic. This specimen exhibits extraordinary detail. The vertebrae are all in place and very 3-dimensional. The eye socket is easily seen. The fins of the fish are nicely displayed. The fossil has great color and contrast. It is well centered on a large, semi-rectangular plate of lithographic limestone. The specimen retains the old collection label on the back of the plate. This is an excellent display specimen of this Solnhofen fish.
