Here is an excellent fossil insect from the Jurassic of China. This large insect exhibits incredible detail. The huge wings are beautifully displayed - the color pattern is even preserved. The insect has good color and contrast and is nicely presented on the natural plate of shale that also shows many fossil bivalves. The back side of the plate also contains an insect and some bivalves. This is a fine example of a flying insect from the time of the dinosaurs.
