Here is a very nice specimen of a solitary coral. This is Heliophyllum halli from the Devonian of New York. The coral has been extracted from the surrounding matrix so that it can be viewed from all angles. It has been beautifully prepared to display the septa. The fossil coral is complete and even the tiny tip of the coral is intact. This is a very fine example of a "horn coral" from the Monodechenella and Pseudodechenella locality.
