Name:
Ice Age Bison Jaw
Age: Pleistocene
Formation: Ice Age Glaciation
Location: Nebraska
Size: Jaw is over 13" long, 7.25" tall
Here is an extremely interesting fossil. This is the lower jaw of an Ice Age Bison from Nebraska. This jaw is very large (over 13 inches long!), obviously from an adult animal. ALL of the rear molars are firmly embedded in the jaw. The enamel of the teeth is in fine condition, and the cusps of the teeth are easily seen. The white teeth contrast nicely with the brown bone. This is a wonderful example of a large lower jawbone with teeth from this massive Pleistocene mammal.
