Uncommon Devonian Blastoids - Nucleocrinus
Stock Number  XIBL702
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Nucleocrinus sp.
Age:  Devonian
Formation:  Mineola Formation
Location:  Montgomery County, Missouri
Size:  Plate is 3 inches across

Here is an interesting pair of blastoids from the Devonian of Missouri. This is an undescribed species of Nucleocrinus from the Mineola Formation. The blastoids are very 3-dimensional. The elongated pentagonal blastoids are comprised of large, extremely thin plates. The ambulacra are long and narrow. The blastoids are fully natural to the plate - no compositing or placement has taken place. The fossils have good color and contrast and are well showcased on the limestone block. The matrix block is loaded with other fossils. This is a very uncommon specimen of this primitive echinoderm from the Devonian.
