Bison Hump Vertebra
Age: Pleistocene
Formation: Ice Age Glaciation
Location: Nebraska
Size: Vertebra is 16.2 inches tall
Here is a very unusual vertebrate fossil. It is a very large Bison (Buffalo) ''Hump'' vertebra from the Ice Age Deposits of Nebraska. This vertebra was located right behind the head of the Bison, where the hump of the Bison is located - the LONG process on this vertebra gave the Bison its hump! The detail of the bone is extremely nice. This is a wonderful collector fossil which makes for a great conversation piece.
