This is an impressive fossil turtle. It is a large Stylemys nebraskensis from Nebraska. This specimen is free of matrix and can be viewed from all angles. The turtle is complete and very well-articulated. The fossil has great natural color and very nice detail. The underside shell (plastron) is intact, which is a nice bonus. The turtle is somewhat compressed, but is still inflated and 3-D. And there is even a leg bone sticking out of one of the leg holes. This is a fine example of a fossilized turtle from the Badlands.
