EXTINCTIONS CHOICE - Rare Lobster and Fish
Stock Number  XILOB08
EXTINCTIONS Choice

Name:   Homarus hakelensis, Sedenhorstia hayi
Age:  Middle Cretaceous
Formation:  Cenomanian Layers
Location:  Hajoula, Lebanon
Size:  Plate is 5.5 inches across

This is an excellent specimen of Homarus hakelensis from the Cretaceous of Lebanon. Due to political unrest, fossils from this site are becoming increasingly difficult to obtain. This lobster is well preserved and exhibits great detail. The head, segmented body, and tail of the crustacean are clearly defined. The distinct pincers are beautifully displayed, and even the long, segmented antennae of the beast can be seen. There is also an excellent Sedenhorstia hayi fish preserved on the plate. The fossils are wonderfully centered on the squared plate of sublithographic limestone. This is an extremely displayable example of an unusual crustacean and fish from the Middle East.
