This is simply a beautiful ammonite fossil. It is a striking specimen of Asteroceras sp. from the Jurassic of England. This specimen was recently acquired from a major fossil collection. This ammonite has been highly polished to reveal the gorgeous coloration and intricate suture pattern of the cephalopod. The inner whorls of the ammonite are very well preserved, and the individual body chambers are clearly defined. The GREEN, WHITE, and GOLD coloration is totally natural - it has not been dyed or artificially colored in any way. The ammonite is aesthetically showcased on the natural block of limestone matrix, making this a world-class display fossil. This is a very displayable example of this classic fossil from the famous Frodingham Ironstone of Scunthorpe, England.
