Distinct Cambrian Stromatolite from California
Stock Number  XISTR139

Name:   Cambrian Stromatolite
Age:  Lower Cambrian
Formation:  Chambless Limestone
Location:  Marble Mountains, California
Size:  Stromatolite is 6 inches tall

This is a very interesting stromatolite slab from the Lower Cambrian of California. Authorities believe that stromatolites were formed by masses of green or blue-green algae, or ''cyanobacteria''. This large, colorful slab has been highly polished on one side for optimal display. The unique pattern of the oval stromatolite forms is beautifully showcased, and the reddish coloration of the mineral replacement is quite striking. This is a very displayable example of this unusual stromatolite from the Marble Mountains of California.
