Extremely Rare Araliophyllum Leaf

Here is an extremely rare fossil leaf. This is Araliophyllum quina from the Green River Formation of Utah. This is the only specimen of this particular leaf that we have ever seen. This leaf (related to Oreopanax) is palmately compound with extremely serrated margins. The venation is composed of palmate primaries with weak, opposite secondary veins. The leaf has good color and contrast. It is well centered on the natural plate of shale. This is a fine example of this very unusual leaf from the Eocene. There is also another partial leaf on the plate.
