Here is a very pretty fossil leaf from an unusual location. We recently acquired this leaf from an old collection. Years ago, these leaves were found in the Eocene clay deposits of a brickyard in Tennessee. This lanceolate leaf exhibits wonderful detail - the primary venation is easily seen and the short petiole is still attached. The secondary venation is quite unique in that the many veins are almost horizontal. The fossil has outstanding, natural color - the brown leaf contrasts nicely with the tan matrix. It is well positioned on the somewhat rectangular plate. This is a very fine specimen of a fossil leaf from this "old" location.
