This is a very detailed crab fossil. It is a cool Zantopsis dufouri from the Eocene of Spain. This type of crab has very large bumps and mounds covering the surface of the carapace - this specimen showcases this feature beautifully. The crab has both claws intact, and all eight legs are also preserved, which is quite unusual. The exoskeleton of the crab is wonderfully preserved and has excellent natural color. The crab is still partially encased in the block of dense limestone matrix. This is a very collectible fossilized crab from Europe.
