Here is a very unique specimen. This is an actual piece of fossil ivory from the tusk of the Woolly Mammoth, Mammuthus primigenius. This ivory was found in the same area that was featured in the Discovery Channel special, ''Raising the Mammoth''. As you can imagine, any piece or part of a Woolly Mammoth tusk is extremely rare. This large chunk of ivory has great natural color and fine detail (see close-up photo). There is a sizeable amount of tusk present, and it makes for a very displayable specimen. The ivory is wonderfully presented in a glass-topped riker mount. This is an extremely unusual fossil from the Ice Age of Russia - what a conversation piece!
