Here is an unusual crab species from Down Under. It is Trichopeltarion greggi from New Zealand. This type is a deep sea spiny crab with many frilly spines around the edge of the shell. Normally, only the carpace of the crabs are found on this species - this specimen has some legs and claws preserved, which is quite unusual. This specimen displays the ornate nature of its shell very well. The detail is very nice, and the white coloration is both striking and fully natural. This is a nice, detailed example of this rare, ornate crab from New Zealand.
