Here is a fabulous specimen of Conoclypus vilanovae from the Eocene of Spain. This large echinoid (almost 3 inches long!) exhibits very fine detail. The petaloid ambulacra are very well defined, and the test of the echinoid is entirely covered with fine ornamentation. The classic shape and the inflated body of the sea urchin are wonderfully displayed. This is an excellent example of this large sea urchin from Espania.
