Here is a very nice canine tooth from Ursus uralensis, a cave bear. Cave bears are the largest members of the bear family. They were the chief animal hunted by Neanderthal man. This specimen is from the Pleistocene Cave Deposits of Russia. Cave bear material is becoming harder to obtain as the old caves are producing very little new material. This well preserved canine tooth exhibits a long, complete root. The enamel is quite beautiful and the tip of the tooth is near perfect. This is a very fine tooth from this large Pleistocene animal.
