This is a very cool trilobite. It is a large Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. This specimen was recently acquired from the Richard Busch Collection. Busch was the Preparator/Asst. Curator at the North Museum in Lancaster, PA from 1965-1992. This is a Moroccan PREPARED specimen, not a Moroccan RESTORED specimen - the bug is fully natural and unrestored! This trilobite was acquired by Busch in the early 1980's, before the Moroccans started to cobble together fossils from pieces and parts...and putty. This outstretched trilobite is extremely 3-dimensional and exhibits very nice detail. The thick-shelled exoskeleton is covered with MANY coarse pustules, and the individual lenses of the large compound eyes are easily seen. The well articulated bug has nice, natural color, and the fossil is almost six inches long - quite large for this type. This is a nice, unrestored trilobite that was once a part of the Richard Busch Collection.
