Here is an unusual fossil brachiopod specimen. This is Chonetinella uralica from the Pennsylvanian of Russia. This specimen has wonderful form and very good detail (especially under magnification!). The distinct ribbing is very easily seen. The brach is well positioned on the natural plate of matrix. This is a very detailed example of this brachiopod fossil from the Moscow area.
