Here is a very ornate echinoid from Africa. It is an unusual Asterocidaris koechlini from Morocco. This inflated sea urchin has great form and exhibits extremely fine detail, especially under magnification. This type of echinoid has very thin ambulacra, and the entire test is covered with ornate, knobby tubercles, which were the points of spine attachment. The sea urchin is fully free of matrix, and can be viewed from all angles. This is a spectacular specimen of this collectible urchin from the Jurassic of Morocco.
