This is a very distinct plate of blastoids from the Mississippian of Illinois. There are three blastoids, Pentremites sp., on the slab. All of the fossils are quite inflated and exhibit wonderful detail. The plate structure of the blastoids is superb, and the wide ambulacra are clearly defined. Even the small spiracles at the tops of the blastoids are easily seen. The blastoids have great color and contrast and are well composited on the natural slab of shale that also contains a brachiopod. This is a very attractive plate of blastoids from the Ridenhower Formation.
