This is a rare fossil echinoderm. This specimen was found in the crinoid layers of the Warsaw Formation of Illinois. This fossil is a very nice Metablastus with stem. Blastoids from the Warsaw are very rare, and ones with stem are hardly ever found. The blastoid is well displayed on the sculpted matrix plate. This is a very unusual and uncommon Mississippian blastoid from Illinois.
