Here is a rare ammonite from the Pleuroceras Beds of the Jurassic of Germany. This type of ammonite has coarse ribs and a wide keel with a continuous ridge running the length of the keel. The ammonite also has large spikes on either side (hard to see in photo). The ammonite is 3-dimensionally preserved and exhibits fine detail. The inner whorls of the cephalopod are clearly defined, and the intricate suture pattern is easily seen. This is a very nice specimen of this unusual ammonite from Germany.
