This is a very interesting blastoid specimen from the Mississippian of Missouri. In the center of the plate is a large example of Orophocrinus stelliformis. This beautiful, star-shaped blastoid is highly prized by the local collectors - it is a lucky day for the collector when one of these blastoids is found. The distinct echinoderm is very robust and exhibits good plate structure. The off-white fossil contrasts nicely with the orangish-brown matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the large plate of limestone. This is a very large specimen of this unique blastoid from the Lower Burlington Formation.
