This is a very nice specimen of Heptagenia sp., a Mayfly larva, from the Jurassic of China. This large fossil larva exhibits very fine detail. The head, segmented body, and three-pronged tail are all easily seen. Even the ''bristles'' on the body are quite evident. The Mayfly larva has wonderful color and contrast and is well showcased on the plate of matrix. This is an excellent example of Heptagenia from the time of the dinosaurs.
