This is a fine multiple plate of Pentremites rusticus from the Pennsylvanian of Oklahoma. There are SEVEN specimens of Pentremites blastoid preserved on this plate. This species of blastoid is unusual in that the plates of the thecae are highly ornamented - this is the only species of Pentremites that we have seen that have these ornamented plates. The blastoids exhibit excellent detail - the plate structure is well defined, and the ambulacra are wonderfully preserved. The fossils are extremely 3-dimensional and quite inflated. The fossils are nicely composited on the natural plate of limestone that also contains blastoids on the back of the plate! This is a very nice assemblage of blastoids from the Brentwood Formation.
