This is a nice specimen of Drotops megalomanicus from the Devonian of Morocco. This Phacopid trilobite is not only big - it is extremely inflated. The wonderfully articulated bug is quite prone and exhibits nice detail. The large compound eyes display the individual lens pattern quite well. The granulose texture of the thick exoskeleton is well defined, but there is a natural fault in the glabella. The black trilobite contrasts well with the sculpted grey matrix. The trilobite is wonderfully showcased on the large block of limestone. This is a very nice example of a large Drotops megalomanicus.
