Here is a very distinct example of a fossil lobster. This is Eryma modestiformis from the famous Solnhofen Limestone of Germany. This formation is well known for the fine preservation of the fossils that are occasionally found there. This specimen is very well preserved and exhibits the head, carapace, and both large claws - even some of the legs are easily seen. The fossil arthropod has gorgeous coloration and contrasts nicely with the cream-colored matrix. The fossil is well showcased on the very large display plate plate of lithographic limestone. This is a very aesthetic specimen of this unusual crustacean from the Jurassic of Germany.
