This is a fine specimen of a fossil shark tooth from Maryland. This specimen came from a collection and was found over 10 years ago. The serrations and tip are very nice, and the root is nearly perfect. But there in an unusual feature on this tooth - there is a cut across the front side of the tooth where it was bitten. The tooth came out of the jaw, probably during feeding, and then the tooth was bitten along with the food! This is a very unusual occurrence in the fossil record. This is a great display specimen of a shark tooth that tells a story.
