This is a large shark tooth from an unusual location. It is a Carcharocles megalodon tooth from the Atacama Desert of Chile. This type of shark is an extinct species of Great White Shark. The tooth is very large - well over five inches long. The serrations and tip are nearly perfect. There are two spots of restoration on the enamel, otherwise the enamel is very nice. But the best part of this tooth is that it is nicely centered in a large chunk of matrix. Very few shark teeth of this size are found in a nice matrix block like this one. This is a large, displayable shark tooth from a collectible locality.
