This is a very unusual US trilobite. It is Phacops logani from the Lower Devonian of Perry County, Pennsylvania. This piece was found by Steve Hess in 1980 and was just now prepared. This site is most famous for the Odontocephalus trilobites which were occasionally unearthed - this location is now closed to collecting, and the only way to obtain the trilobites from this site is from an old collection or from the collector. This trilobite is a molt - the head has been displaced in the molting process. The fossil has very good detail preserved. The bug has nice, natural dark color. This is a nice example of this uncommon trilobite from Pennsylvania.
