Here is an interesting blastoid that we recently acquired in an old collection. This is Pentremites sp. from the Ridenhower Formation of Illinois. This blastoid is quite unique in that many of the brachioles (arms) are present. This fine preservation is extremely rare in the fossil record. The echinoderm is very 3-dimensional and is well displayed. This is a very rare blastoid with the hair-like brachioles intact.
