This is an extremely rare specimen of a fossil crawfish. This is Procambarus primaevus from the Eocene of Wyoming. This unusual arthropod is well preserved and exhibits fine detail - the claws, segmented body, and antennae of the crawfish are clearly defined. The fossil is wonderfully showcased and beautifully displayed on the squared block of shale. This is a very affordable example of a rare crawfish from the Green River Formation.
