Here is a wonderful example of an unusual fossil. This is a large Desmograptus mirconematodes, a graptolite, from the Silurian of New York. Desmograptus was a fan-like colony that attached to the bottom of the sea with a fibrous holdfast. This fabulous specimen shows the fan-like colony beautifully displayed. The distinct fossil has excellent color and contrast. This is a fine specimen of this enigmatic Silurian fossil.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
