This is a very nice specimen of Acrosalenia hemicidaroides from the Jurassic of North Africa. This round sea urchin has been removed from the matrix so that it can be viewed from all angles. The fossil is quite robust and exhibits extremely fine detail. The entire test is covered with small pustules, and the thin ambulacra are easily seen. This is an excellent example of this distinct echinoid from Africa.
