This is a HUGE fossil cystoid. It is a fabulous example of Caryocrinites ornatus from the Rochester Shale of New York. This type of primitive echinoderm has a somewhat ovate cup comprised of large, highly ornamented plates - the plate structure of this specimen is easily seen. A LONG stem is still intact, and MANY arms are even preserved (RARE). The fossil has very good color and contrast and is well centered on the rectangular block of shale. This is an extremely collectible specimen of Caryocrinites from the Silurian of New York.

This fossil was collected and obtained legally, and is also being sold legally.
