This is a top quality fossil leaf. It is a beautiful Macginitiea wyomingensis (Sycamore) leaf from the Green River Formation of Colorado. This leaf is wonderfully complete - all five lobes of the leaf are present and beautifully displayed. The entire, serrated margins of the leaf are easily seen, and the venation is clearly defined. An extremely long, complete petiole is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The natural, dark-brown color of the leaf contrasts strikingly with the lighter-colored matrix. The fossil is well displayed on the squared plate of shale. This is a beautiful specimen of a fabulous Sycamore leaf from the Eocene.
