This is a striking trilobite! It is a large Cheirurus excull from the Ordovician of Russia. This wonderfully articulated bug is very well preserved and nicely inflated. The long, curving genal spines have been prepared in a free-standing manner and are wonderfully displayed. The extremely long pygidial spines are also prominently showcased. The fine detail of the thick-shelled exoskeleton is quite noticeable. The natural butterscotch coloration of the fossil contrasts beautifully with the buff-colored matrix. The distinct trilobite is well centered on the large, sculpted plate of limestone. This is a very displayable specimen of this extremely aesthetic trilobite. (The genal spines ARE symmetrical - the shadows make them look funny.)
