Here is a beautiful fossil coral from the Miocene of Florida. This large coral has been totally replaced by agate. The exterior of the specimen preserves the coral shape and structure. The inside of the specimen is filled with with botryoidal chalcedony or agate - almost in a stalactitic fashion. The coral has been split in half to expose this structure. The many colors and interesting formations make for a wonderful display. This is a very nice example of split pair ''Tampa Bay Coral'' that is becoming increasingly harder to obtain.
