This is a very unusual fossil leaf. It is a fabulous Planera microphylla Leaf from a new find in the Paleocene of Montana. This specimen has great shape - and the minute reticulation and venation are clearly seen. The great color, contrast, and distinct detail make for a striking display. The beautiful leaf is well showcased on the squared plate of shale. This is a very strange fossil leaf from an unusual location in Montana.
