Here is an excellent specimen of European brachiopods. These are Rhynchonella decorata from the Jurassic of France. There are four excellent examples of Rhynchonella on this block of matrix. The brachiopods are extremely 3-dimensional and exhibit wonderful detail. These coarsely-plicated brachiopods display the fine growth lines very clearly. Both valves of each brachiopod are intact and tightly articulated. The grayish-tan fossils contrast nicely with the almost-white matrix. The brachiopods are aesthetically posed on the sculpted block. The block has been sawed flat on the bottom for optimal exhibition of the fossils. This is a very displayable specimen of ornate brachiopods.
